James R. Sproston

James R. Sproston, 70, of 3215 Pioneer Avenue S.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, in Mercy Medical Center following a sudden illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; four children, Susan Carman, Linda Waters, Debbie Obrine, and Randy Sproston; three stepchildren, Theresa Mason of Bloomington, Indiana, Brent David of Memphis, Tennessee, and Paul David of Ogden, Iowa.
Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Lou, Jean, and Jeanette; and one brother, Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
James was born May 9, 1935, the son of Harry and Hazel (Snyder) Sproston in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. On December 21, 1979, he married Shirley Ann Fannon. He was a truck driver for Swiss Valley Farms, retiring after approximately 37 years.
James was a member of Teamsters Union Local #238.
