James L. Philiph
September 12, 1931 — September 27, 2006
James L. Philiph, 75, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center, formerly of Marion, died Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. Memorial Services: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at Christ Community Church in Marion, by the Rev. Tom Parrott. Friends may visit with the family at the church one hour prior to the memorial service. Inurnment: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at Waterloo Cemetery, Waterloo, Iowa. Arrangements are with Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include a son, Brian (Marta) Philiph of Robins; two grandchildren, Jessie Philiph and Stefanie Underwood, both of Cedar Rapids; a great-granddaughter, Michelle Raue; and his faithful companion, Shelby, his dog. Also surviving are many other loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Midge; and two sisters, Barbara Brandt and Molly Huggins.
Jim was born September 12, 1931, the son of Albert and Velma Barnes Philiph. He was united in marriage to Mildred "Midge? Bisbee on May 4, 1952. Midge died May 25, 2006. For forty-two years, Jim was employed at Mid-Continent Bottlers. He was a member of Christ Community Church.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Jim for Christ Community Church.
