James Albert Moyer, 77, of rural Central City, died Thursday, November 22, 2007, in his home following a short illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church in Central City, by the Reverend Nick Needham. Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. at Forrest Chapel Cemetery, Morley, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; their children: Rose (Jeffrey) Blank, Mt. Pleasant, John (LaVonne) Moyer, Anamosa, Dennis (Jeanne) Moyer, Hawkinsville, Georgia, Keith (Joetta) Moyer, Center Point, and Annette Saxion, Central City. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two sisters; June (William) Morrow, Central City and Mary (Dean) Gerdemann, Springville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Donald; and a sister Dorothy.
James was born on May 30, 1930, in rural Central City to Albert Melvin and Grace Isabel (Parks) Moyer. He graduated from Viola High School in 1947. On August 20, 1950, at the Springville Presbyterian Church, he was united in marriage to Barbara Joyce Long.
James was a farmer and worked for 29 years as a machinist at Rockwell Goss. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a trustee, an active NOMADS since 1999, member of Machinist Union Local 831, a Gideon, and was active for Linn County Soil Conservation. James will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
