James Edward McLaud, 66, of 219 18th Street N.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, May 8, 2011, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Harnish.
James “Jim” was born to Mary and George McLaud on January 2, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. He married Sue Lathrop on July 3, 1969. To the union William “Billy Joe” was born. They later divorced. He served in the U.S. Navy. Jim cooked at various restaurants in Cedar Rapids and more recently drove a cab. He will be remembered for his sharp wit and amusing tales and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include son, William “Billy Joe” of Ottumwa; his four brothers, Dennis McGuire, Larry (Cathy) Kennedy and Gary (Gayle) Kennedy all of Cedar Rapids and Steve (Lori) Kennedy of Walker; two sisters, Sally Gatewood and Colleen Kennedy both of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Keifer and Logan McLaud of Ottumwa; and his best friend, Mark Snyder of Cedar Rapids.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
