James Ray LeHew, 74, of Paragould, Arkansas, formerly of Marion, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. The family will greet friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker, Iowa.
James was born December 18, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Mary (Sherbon) LeHew. He graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf in 1963. James was employed at Boorst Upholstery in Cedar Rapids until his retirement. He was a very crafty man who enjoyed woodworking, painting, drawing, and cross stitch. James was an awesome man and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Jeffery (Kristen) LeHew of Paragould, Arkansas; daughter, Delisa (Lynn) LeHew-Martz of Peachtree City, Georgia; three grandchildren, Sgt. Andrew Cooper of Fort Hood, Texas, Jimmy Hansen of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Kimberlie (Joseph) Swogger of Winchester, Virginia; four sisters, Mary Jo Hemphill, Kathy (Steve) Brown, Rose (Ralph) Walter, and Alice LeHew; four brothers, Robert (Mary) LeHew, Phillip (Susan) LeHew, Rich (Krisan) LeHew, and Thomas (Lynn) LeHew; sister-in-law, Geraldine LeHew; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Jean LeHew; and brother, Kenneth William LeHew, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Iowa School for the Deaf Foundation at 3501 Harry Langdon Blvd in Council Bluffs, Iowa 51503.
