James William "Jim" Webster

James “Jim” William Webster, 63, of Ely, died Monday, September 22, 2008, following an accident. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2008, at St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a Vigil service will begin at 5:30 p.m. and a rosary service will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; his children, James R. Webster of Cedar Rapids, Christopher Webster of Ely and Lora (Todd) Higgins of Overland Park, Kansas; two grandchildren, Paige Rohrich and Trenton Higgins; and a brother, Robert (Jan) Webster of Solon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Laura Spalla and Adeline Webster.
Jim was born June 2, 1945, the son of Calvin and Rose (Samec) Webster, in Cresco, Iowa. On December 30, 1968, he was united in marriage to Kathy Scanlon in Hidden Valley, Texas. For 32 years, Jim and Kathy operated Jim’s Petroleum Maintenance. He loved fishing, enjoyed designing, building and was the “ultimate tinkerer”.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Jim.
