James A. “Jim” Fare, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Living Center East Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids. Private graveside services.
Jim was born at home in Ely, Iowa, on October 10, 1935, son of Ray and Anna (Chrisman) Fare. He married Nancy Clark July 10, 1965, in Iowa City. Survivors include his wife and best friend, Nancy Fare; children, Patricia Cain, Debbie Freerksen of Cedar Rapids, Amy (Brett) Hart of Cedar Rapids, Julie Fare of Dallas, Texas, and Jay Fare of Cedar Rapids; beloved grandchildren, Daniel (Amy) Kolosik, Nicole Cain, Joel (Ashley) Freerksen, Austin Mrstik, Corey Cain, Megan (Nick) Bails, Ryan Wieneke, Maxwell, Makala and Zachary Fare; great-grandchildren, Dade, Derik and Dason Kolosik, Cameron and Brooklyn Bails and Lucas Hilton. Survivors also include two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and special friend, Shana Roney.
Jim worked at Evergreen Packaging, formally Cherry Burrell, for 35 years retiring in 1997 as a UAW Local 1024 Member. His great loves were his family first, then camping and a huge Nascar fan. He never knew a stranger and never had a cross word for anyone. Friends Jim grew up with remained his friends for life. He was baptized in the Methodist Faith.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Kenneth Wayne, Lois Stick Eischer, Velma Hoffman, John Fare, Norma Paul and Raymond Fare Jr.
