James D. Bohr, 65, of 4119 N. Willowbend Rd. died on December 24 in his home surrounded by his family.

At times mischievously cantankerous, Jim was nevertheless a joyous curmudgeon. The almost elfin delight he took in bursting the self-inflated balloons of pomposity and pretension allowed even his targets to embrace him.

For Jim?s life was one of simple pleasures - reading a good book, a diet coke and chat with the guys, listening to an antiquated jazz solo, and - most of all - the uncomplicated appreciation and love he so generously gave to friends and family.

Jim is survived by Peggy, his wife of 43 years; three daughters, Kristin Gavin (John) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Tasha Everman (Brian) of Lincoln, NE and Amy West (Brooks) of Minneapolis, MN; two brothers, Father Ted Bohr of Omaha, NE and Larry Bohr (Naomi) of Decatur, IL; and eight grandchildren, Andy and Macie Collins, Tricia, Megan and Briana Gavin, Maggie Everman and Teddy and Lottie West.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Kathleen Bohr.

A memorial mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday December 27, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 857 3rd Ave, Cedar Rapids. The family will host a gathering at the church following the services.

In lieu of flowers, Jim asked that memorials be directed to the Anna Purna-Ghosh Foundation, the Muslim Youth Camp Fund or the Retired Priests and Nuns Fund.
