James H. Bahr, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died comfortably at home on Monday, April 2, 2007, following a long illness. There was a cremation to be followed by a private family memorial at a later date.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Coleen; children, Diana Bahr, and Denise (Jeff) Craft, both of Cedar Rapids, Daniel (Debra) Bahr of Ely and Donna Bahr of Charles City; grandchildren, Jill, Janean, Angela, Eric and Jessica; great grandsons, Julien and Jonah; and great granddaughters, Althea and Grace. Also surviving are two brothers, Donald (Donna) and Gerald (Sharon) Bahr of Morris, Minnesota.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Edward and LaVeta Bahr of Morris, Minnesota.
Jim was born March 5, 1928, in Elbow Lake, Minnesota, the son of Edward and LaVeta (Martin) Bahr. On November 30, 1952, he married Coleen Miller in Morris, Minnesota. He served in the Navy from 1953 to 1957, and served aboard the Newport News as a Navy Corpsman. In 1963, James, Coleen and their children moved to Cedar Rapids where he joined the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #125.
Jim and Coleen enjoyed traveling the states in their RV, with and without, their grandchildren. They also traveled to Hawaii, Alaska and Europe. Jim was loved by his family and friends. His memory will be cherished.
The family expresses great appreciation to St. Luke?s Hospice and to his nurse Zola, who gave us all much comfort and care.
