James L. Henderson

James L. Henderson Sr., 71, of 469 Ida Drive, died Friday, April 23, 2004, in St. Luke?s Hospital, following a heart attack. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Nick Longworth. Friends may call Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine "Gerri?; a son, James (Mary) Henderson Jr. of Marion; a daughter, Deborah (Dave) Heck of Marion; three brothers, John Henderson, Edward (Mildred) Henderson and Lloyd (Phyllis) Henderson; three sisters, Darlene (George) Ulferts, Joyce (Danny) Coblentz and Bonnie (Richard) Luerkens; three grandchildren, Brad Henderson, Chris Henderson and Nicole Kimmerle; and six great-grandchildren, Scott, Jessica, Michael, Josh, Breesy and Levi.
Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Nellie Ayers; two sisters-in-law, Darlene (Don) Eiler and Delores Hobson; two brothers-in-law, Cliff (Sherry) Ayers and Doug (Dorrie) Ayers; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, LaVerne Henderson; two sisters, Lillian McMurrin and Carolyn Corum; a sister-in-law, Angeline Ayers; a brother-in-law, Darold L. Ayers; and his father-in-law, Darold T. Ayers.
He was born the son of Everett and Theresa Appleby Henderson on August 20, 1932, in Hopkinton. On August 18, 1951, in Monticello, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Ayers. Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired after forty-four years at Hawkeye Rubber Company in Cedar Rapids. He then worked for D & N fence. Jim was a member of American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion. He enjoyed being with his family, friends and cabin buddies.
Military rites will be performed.
A memorial fund has been established in Jim?s memory.
