James Robert Boyd
August 1, 1932 — February 1, 2018
James Robert Boyd, 85, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018, after a short illness. Visitation: 10 – 11 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with the funeral service to follow at the funeral home. A reception will be held immediately after the service at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Robert was born August 1, 1932, in Missouri, the son of John and Marie (Smiley) Boyd. He served his country in the United States Army from 1952 – 1954. Robert married Alba Jean Hamilton. She passed away in 1989. He was an independent truck driver for 36 years and enjoyed spending time with family. Robert was a hard worker that loved a game of cards or going out to eat.
Robert is survived by his children, Donna J. Metz of Cedar Rapids, Robert W. (Chong) Boyd of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ricky J. (Sue) Boyd of Lovettsville, Virginia; grandchildren, Shamron Kluck, Jason Boyd, James (Marian) Boyd, Erik (Kristen) Boyd, Alex Boyd; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings, Helen (Clyde) Burk of Alexa, Kansas, Rahma Huddleston of Mexico, Missouri, Orval (Barb) Boyd of Sun City, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; son, James A. Boyd; siblings, Virginia Clark, J.W. Boyd, Mary Lou Martin, Lawrence Boyd, Carl Boyd; and infant sisters, Annabelle Boyd and Ila Marie Boyd.
