Jacqueline Ann (Zaspal) McDonnell, 61, of Anderson, South Carolina, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, November 28, 2002 at Anderson Area Medical Center of cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2002, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church by Rev. Harry Koelker. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2002, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a scripture service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Burial: St. John?s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Paul McDonnell of Anderson; mother and step-father, Mary L. and Fred Gerst of Bettendorf, Iowa; four brothers, Louis Zaspal of Central City, Iowa, Michael Zaspal of El Cajon, California, Frank Zaspal of Solon, Iowa, and Tim A. Zaspal of Yorkville, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Zaspal.
Jacqueline was born June 7, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids and attended Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids and the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She was a graduate of Florence-Darlington Tech Nursing Program in Florence, SC. She was a RN at Anderson Area Medical Center and was Nurse Manager at McLeod Regional Medical Center from 1983-1989. She was Oncology certified RN and was a longtime member of the Oncology Nursing Society. She was the 1992 Nurse of the Year at Anderson Area Mecial Center and was among finalist statewide. She served as Treasurer of Upstate Oncology Nursing Society from 1990-2002. Her prior employment included operator/customer service, Northwestern Bell, Iowa, and Minnesota, teller/customer service at American Nation Bank, Chicago, IL, Merchants Bank, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Illinois State Bank, Quincy, IL. Mrs. McDonnell was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Anderson.
