Jackie S. Smith, 54, of Toledo, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa following complications of diabetes.
Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2005 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids by Rev. Mike Gray where family will greet friends from 9-11 a.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Smith of Toledo; a son, Jeffery (April) Smith of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, McKynsie, Riley, Logan, Kamron and Courtney; two sisters, Roxanne (Don) Augustine of Cedar Rapids and Patty Elson of Omaha, NE; a brother, Nile (Lois) Heins of Castro Valley, CA; and a life-long friend, Karen Bardwell of Cedar Rapids.
Jackie was born on July 9, 1950, the daughter of Mack E. and Charollotte M. (Serverson) Augustine in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On August 23, 1974, Jackie was united in marriage to Larry H. Smith in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jackie and Larry owned and operated Sam?s Pizza for the past eighteen years. Jackie previously managed the cafeteria at Franklin Jr. High School. She belonged to Veta Sigma Phi. Jackie was an avid cook. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Roger Busa; one sister, Cindy Anderson; and a brother, Darrell Augustine.
