Jack A. King, 76, of 1816 Chandler Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Vicki Standley. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; children, Craig (Michelle) King of Sparks, Nevada, Jacki King (John Balzer) of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and Jeff (Kris) King of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Dani, Reed, Brittani, Stephanie, Taylor and Grant; one great grandson, Jack; and sister, Carol (Louis) Carsner of Vacaville, California.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
Born August 28, 1932, in Marion, Iowa, Jack was the son of Darrell and Madge (Wood) King. He graduated from Marion High School and attended the University of Dubuque. On August 12, 1951, he was united in marriage to Donna Reed. Jack served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. For 20 years he worked for Link Belt FMC retiring in 1985.
Jack was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Fairfax American Legion Post #572. He also was a lifetime member of Otter Creek Sportsman Club, the Amateur Trap Shooting Association and the Iowa State Trapshooting Association.
