Jack S. Fairley, 85, a lifelong resident of Marion, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Crestview Acres in Marion. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille; four daughters, Janet (John) Beck of Marion, JoAnne (David) Bartilson of Marion, Jackie (Dan) Schroeder of Sun City, Arizona, and Judy (Chris) Hazle of Sterling Heights, Michigan; ten grandchildren, Jeff, Jodi, Keith, Kevin, Kurtis, Ben, Tammi, Candie, Jeremy, and Aaron; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Dallas (JoAnn) Fairley of Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Jennifer Irelan; and a sister, Virginia Lary.

Jack was born October 11, 1928, the son of Frank and Wilda (Whitten) Fairley in Cedar Rapids. He attended Marion High School. On June 16, 1948, he married Lucille (Greene) Fairley in Cedar Rapids. Jack was in business with his father Frank at Fairley Implement and was Superintendent of the Marion Water Department. He liked to travel and enjoyed all types of crafts. Jack & Lucille wintered in Yuma, Arizona for 20 years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospice, in Jack’s memory.
