Jack Cook, 76, 3639 12th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. William Harnish. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lorene; his children, Julie (Bob) Burgin, Sally (Jim) Hehlke and Lori (Scott) Berry, all of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Rick (Jamie) Burgin, Mike (Jessica) Burgin, Melissa (Tim) Reck, Katie Taylor, Emily, Sarah and Lydia Berry; three great-grandchildren, Cody, Kaylynn and Karsyn Burgin; and a sister, Margaret Caywood.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jack was born May 19, 1928, the son of Jackson and Blanch Demory Cook, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On December 20, 1947, he was united in marriage to Lorene Redmon in Cedar Rapids. For 20 years, Jack worked for Browns Food Service as a salesman and later owned and operated the Westside Maid Rite for 14 years. After retiring, he worked with Meals on Wheels for the last 14 years. Jack was a regular bowler, loved to fish, camp and enjoyed being with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
