Jack D. Clyde, 76, of Center Point, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010, in his home. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 22, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by the Rev. John Caughron. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Monday. Inurnment: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Dye Benion Post #297.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn; children, Debra Clyde of Center Point, Diana Holmes and husband Philip of Indian Valley, Idaho, James Clyde of Center Point and Dawn Straw and husband Mark of Center Point; grandchildren, Jeffrey Holmes and Brian Holmes both of Idaho and Trenton Clyde and Katelyn Straw both of Center Point; and brother Jerry Clyde and wife Sharon of Winterset, Iowa.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
Born April 3, 1934, in Brandsville, Missouri, Jack was the son of Everette and Laura Mae (Stuart) Clyde. He attended Winterset High School and finished his education in the U. S. Navy where he served during the Korean Conflict. After returning home from the Navy he met the love of his life Kathryn and they were married on June 15, 1958, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. While living on the family farm in Walker, he worked at Walnut Grove in Independence and then worked as a feed mill operator for Vigortone and then as a welder for PM Lattner. During the 70’s, Jack worked on the pit crew for stock car races.
Jack was a member of the Center Point American Legion and the NRA. He enjoyed NASCAR, hunting, fishing and traveling but most of all spending time with his grandchildren of whom he was very proud.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Jack’s memory.
