Iva Mae Davis

Iva M. Davis, 91, of 1601 3rd Street SW, died Friday, December 5, 2003, at Northbrook Manor Care, following a brief illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Glenn Hunt. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Verlyn J. Davis of Cedar Rapids, Sylvia (Charles) Wilkerson of North English and Sherry (Jim) Fangmann of Minnetonka, Minnosota; eight grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two-great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucille Gilley of Middle Amana and Neva Cook of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Verlyn W.; a son, Joe; a brother, Donald; a sister, Maxine; and a grandson, Doug.
Iva was born July 29, 1912, the daughter of Albert and Katherine (Meier) Thomas, in Iowa County, Iowa. On March 30, 1933, she was united in marriage to Verlyn W. Davis in Missouri. He died in 1964. For 27 years, Iva worked for Amana as an inspector, retiring in 1975. She loved flower gardening and gatherings with her family. Iva was a kind, loving and wonderful mother and grandmother whose memories will be treasured forever.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Iva.
