Isabelle H. Thomas, 83, died peacefully with family and friends gathered at the home of her daughter, Teresa, after a long and courageous battle with cancer on August 18, 2006. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Dorothy Gerr. Friends my call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett.

Isabelle is survived by five children, Deanna (Glen) Thomas-Clark of Salt Lake City, Utah, James (Anne) Thomas of Springville, Chester Thomas of Tempe, Arizona, Teresa (John) Cornally of Cedar Rapids and Lloyd Thomas of Tempe, Arizona; her loving companion, Francis Clabough of Marion; special friend, Dr. Janice of Knoxville, Tennessee; and a sister, Eleanor Clark of Anamosa.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, Andrew (Deanna) Clark, Carissa Clark, Cyrus Thomas, Tyler Thomas, Trace Thomas and Megan Cornally; a great-grandchild Vashti Clark; four step-grandchildren, Cari (Kelly) Minton, Shelby (Amy) Vargason, Christopher Eshleman and Joelle Eshleman; three great-grandchildren, Isaiah Minton, Hope Minton and Hunter Vargason. Special mention goes to Francis? four children, Donna (Brian) Miller and family, Mary (Dave) Knee and family, Steve (Sandy) Clabough and family and David (Cynthia) Clabough and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, C. Dean.

Isabelle was born on March 3, 1923, and was the daughter of Emmett and Lucy Hoge. She graduated from Viola High School in 1941. On March 24, 1943, she was married to C. Dean Thomas in Washington D.C. He died on March 15, 1996. Isabelle was a farmer?s wife and homemaker. Isabelle was a three term member of the Alburnett School Board. She dearly loved her PEO-FO sisters and College Club. She was a former member of the Alburnett Book Club and Garden Club. She was a 4-H leader and top sales person for World Book Encyclopedia.

Isabelle loved her garden and birds.She loved to paint and do counted cross stitch. Isabelle, enjoyed P. Buckley Moss as it reminded her of her heritage.

Isabelle had special bonds with Dr. Ghosh, Dr. Fusselman and Dr. Payvandi and their staff and her dear nurses on 5 Center at St. Luke?s, where she felt so loved and cared for. Also thanks to St. Luke?s Hospice for their care and compassion.
