Isabelle P. Frajman (Kontny)

Isabelle P. Frajman, 88, of Marion, died Monday, November 15, 2010, in Hospice at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 19, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, Iowa, by Father John Gossman. The family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Mary Jane (Ronald) Erbe of Marion and Nancy (Jan) Ashby of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; 4 grandchildren, Deanna Ashby, Jill Morken, Vanessa Brehm, and Gregory Erbe; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marion Staley of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a brother-in-law, Richard Frajman of Cedar Rapids; 2 sisters-in-law, Edith Frajman of Phoenix, Arizona and Marilyn Kontny of Janesville, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Isabelle was born October 7, 1922, the daughter of Anton and Mary Ann (Nitka) Kontny, in Ashland, Wisconsin. After graduating from DePadua High School, Isabelle worked in a munitions factory in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During WW11, Isabelle enlisted in the Navy and was ranked as a Seaman 1st Class from 1944 – 1945. Isabelle was stationed at Jacksonville Naval Air Station where she met and married Frank Frajman on September 28, 1945. He died on May 10, 1997. Isabelle was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion since 1945. She also belonged to the Women’s Golf Association, and the American Legion Post 298 of Marion. Isabelle was also known to family and friends as “Polly” or “Sue.” Frank and Isabelle were well-known golfers in the Cedar Rapids and Marion area, playing in many leagues and golf courses.
