Irvin Eugene Lindley, “Bones”, 84, of Marion, Iowa, died on December 6, 2018. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial will be at at North Boulder Cemetery, Prairieburg.
Irvin was born in Central City, Iowa, the son of Henry and Ruby (Blount) and graduated from Central City High School in 1953. He was a veteran of the United States Airforce, serving his country for 21 years. While in the Airforce, Irvin met and married the love of his life, Nobuko Shirmo, in Okinawa, Japan in 1961. During his years of service, he served on the E.O.D. squad, which is a division of the Airforce responsible for detecting, detonating and disposing explosive threats including nuclear warheads. After retiring from the Airforce, Irvin returned to Iowa with his wife at his side, he became a butcher and started Lindley’s Meat Processing in Marion, which they owned for 20 years until his retirement. Irvin was a member of the American Legion Post # 298 of Marion.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nobuko (Kay); 2 sons; 1 daughter; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
