Irma Marie Paxton (Dillehay)

Irma Marie Paxton, 71, of 920 Fairview Drive, Marion, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Garnett Place, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 27, 2007 at Ascension Lutheran Church by Rev. Linda Livingston. Visitation will be from 4 ?" 8 p.m., Thursday, July 26, 2007 at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Graveside services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Wright Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Bobby (Sheryl) Paxton of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Donetta (Roger) Walters of Shueyville, and Mary Paxton, Marion; 3 grandchildren, Michael (Brandy) Nietert, Jennifer (Jamey) Maxfield, and Cody Paxton; 6 great grandchildren, Garrett Nietert, Jasper Nietert, Cord & Cole Nietert, Houston Maxfield and Kaylie Maxfield.
Also surviving are a sister, Clara (Bill) Johannes of Council Bluffs, and a sister-in-law, Helen Everhart.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Gordon; a son, Clifford Paxton, and a brother, Roy Everhart.
Irma was born September 8, 1935, the daughter of Duane and Erma Dillehay, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She married Gordon L. Paxton. He died on August 9, 1986.
Irma was baptized on May 5, 1942 and confirmed in 1951 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs. She was also a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and a member of the Quilting Club at the church. She enjoyed gardening, her grandchildren and great-children, and her constant companion, “Skipper”. She always showed great care to all animals to nurse them back to health. Irma loved animals.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ascension Lutheran Church “Caring Fund” in Irma’s memory.
