Irene C. Wiedenman, 89, died Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 21, 2011at the First Lutheran Church in Manchester by Rev. Al Oman and Rev. Dr. Jean Rabary. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester, IA. Additional visitation one hour before service Monday at the First Lutheran Church. Graveside Services: 2:30 p.m., Monday, February 21, 2011 at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA.
Irene was born August 24, 1921 in Postville, IA, the daughter of Walter and Amanda (Schutte) Sander. Following graduation from Postville, Irene taught at a country school for two years. On May 21, 1942, Irene was united in marriage to Leonard L. Wiedenman at Postville. Making their home in Cedar Rapids, IA., Irene worked as a secretary for the Cedar Rapids Community School District for 22 years.
Irene was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Manchester, and a longtime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Irene was a great cook and enjoyed her family and grandchildren.
Irene is survived by her husband, Leonard Wiedenman of Manchester; children, Donna Schilling of Cedar Rapids, Carol (Rick) Reed of Gainesville, GA, and Dennis (Marsha) Wiedenman of Manchester; grandchildren, Tammy (Matt) Gasper, Tanya (Chuck) Mangold, Todd (Tracy) Wiedenman, Doug (Barb) Niman, Nan Louis; Amy Reed, Molly (A.J) MacDonald, Casie (Troy) Fadness, Bobbie (Quinton) Ites, and Thomas (Kelly) Martin; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Makayla, Katelyn, Mitchel, Amber, Autumn, Alissa, Ashley, Sydney, William, Brett, MacKenzie, Patrick, Morgan, James, Charlie, Hannah, Max, Mason, Paige, Emma, Hailey, and Madison; and one brother, Wayne (Jean) Sander of New Hampton, IA.
Irene was preceded in death her parents, Walter and Amanda Sander; and a brother, Willard Sander.
