Irene E. Nedrow Zarub, 102, a resident of Winslow House Care Center in Marion, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Peter Mitchell. The family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Winter of Marion; three grandchildren, Jeff (Kay) Garnatz of Columbia, MO, Jill Garnatz of Marion, and Joel (Jane) Garnatz of Waconia, MN; six great-grandchildren, Melissa, Bryan, Kelsey, Sam, Ben, and Mitch; and two great-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Sophie.
She was preceded in death by two husbands and eight siblings.
Irene was born July 29, 1909 in Madrid, IA, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Johnson) Tudeen. She married Bert Nedrow on September 3, 1927. Bert died December 6, 1989. Irene later married Lincoln Zarub; he has preceded her in death. She was employed at Collins Radio for many years. Irene was a member of Marion Christian Church, and a former member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time sewing and was an avid crossword puzzle worker.
