Irene Ida Kula, 93, of Marion, passed away August 28, 2015 at the Hiawatha Care Center. Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Prairieburg, as per her wishes. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City.
Irene is survived by her children, Mary Frances Bailey of Prairieburg, Arlene Wiley (Bob) of Marion, Connie Kula of Marion, and Bonnie Kula of Kansas City, Kansas; five grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; and a brother Wayne Remington of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester in 1999; parents; and a brother, Glendon.
Irene was born December 30, 1921 in Jones County to Fred and Della (Grimm) Remington. She attended Story School. On February 9, 1939 she married Lester Kula in Anamosa. She was a farm wife and later worked at Sauer’s Grocery in Central City as a cashier and as a cook at the Abby Center.
