Irene M. DeLaHunt, 78, of Edgewood, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, September 28, 2007, in the Regional Medical Center in Manchester, Iowa, following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 1, 2007, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cedar Rapids, by Ray Zook. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m., Sunday, September 30, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Cinda (Jackson) Crosley of Austin, Texas, Dennis (Kathy) McNeal of Ossian, Iowa and Daniel (Kate) McNeal of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Verna (Ken) McNeal White of Urbandale; grandchildren, Kym Chance, Steven Crosley, Abby McNeal, MaKenzie McNeal, Emilee McNeal, Briana McNeal, Ean McNeal, Maggie McNeal and Lauren McNeal; great grandchildren, Eric Chance and Carson Chance; sister, Teresa Mrazek of Cedar Rapids; brother, Robert (Rayma) Fisher of Edgewood; and sister-in-law, Frances Fisher of Van Horn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Neil; son, Eric; and brother, Charles Fisher.
Irene was born August 31, 1929, on the Fisher farm near Edgewood, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Bess (Michael) Fisher. On November 26, 1948, she married Ernie McNeal in the Little Brown Church. They later divorced. On December 20, 1980, she married Neil Ewing DeLaHunt in Strawberry Point. He died January 25, 2006. She was a secretary for 2 years for Coca-Cola Bottling, worked for Keystone Real Estate for 2 years and owned the Strawberry Motel for over 9 years.
Irene was a 4-H leader, PTA president, served on the Strawberry Point Chamber of Commerce Board, Country Club Board, was secretary treasurer for the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport and held numerous other offices in community organizations. Irene was also a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cedar Rapids. She was baptized in 1999.
