Ira Edward Mann, Jr.

Ira Edward Mann, Jr., 83, of Shueyville, died Thursday, June 11, 2009. Services: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial: Mt. Vernon Cemetery with military honors.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Sue Neighbor of Shueyville; his son, John Edward (Rebecca) Mann of Ft. Collins, Colorado; two grandchildren, Aaron Neighbor and Carol (Russell) DeNeve; and two great-grandchildren, Garret and Devin DeNeve.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol; a brother, Leroy Mann; two sisters, Lorvane McCluskey and Loretta Brannon; and his son-in-law, Ron.
Ira was born May 21, 1926, the son of Ira and Mary (Jirouch) Mann, Sr. in Cedar Rapids. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Fraser in the Pacific Theatre. On March 2, 1947, he married Carol Ione Ellison in Cedar Rapids. She died December 11, 1967. Prior to retirement, Ira was self-employed as a carpenter and painter. He lived his life with pride and dignity. Ira was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
