Ira “Ike” Hatch, 90, of Manchester, passed away at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester on Friday, March 28, 2014.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Manchester by Rev. Michael Druhl. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Manchester. Additional visitation, one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.

Ike was born July 26, 1923 in rural Manchester, the son of Adrian and Zella (Zirtzman) Hatch. He attended Manchester High School where he played basketball, graduating in 1943. On October 17, 1948, Ike was united in marriage to Wilma Holthaus at the United Methodist Church in Manchester. Ike worked for Borden’s Ice Cream and Anderson-Erickson Dairy as a route Salesman for many years. After retirement, Ike was a greeter at the Manchester Walmart.

Ike was an active member of the United Methodist Church, where he was an usher for many years. He also served on the Manchester Cemetery Board and was a Charter Member of the Manchester Jaycees. Family was important to Ike; he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and friends. Along with being a Cubs fan, Ike loved to fish and enjoyed his pets.

Ike is survived by his wife, Wilma; one daughter, Mary Jo (Randy) Shover of Manchester; three grandchildren, Kurt (Sandra) Shover, Keri (Rob) O’Brien, and Scott (Susan) Shover; two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Sladen Shover; and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hatch.

Ike was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Chet Hatch; one sister, Berdina (Jake) Mangold; two sister-in-laws, Beulah Holthaus and Lois Tibbott.
