Inez Marie Atwater (Zenisek)

Inez M. Atwater, 83, of Center Point, Iowa, died, Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, from acute leukemia. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Urbana, Iowa, by Rev. David Ambrossey. The family will greet friends from 4 - 8 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Center Point, Iowa, where a Parish Vigil Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Donald (Jill) Atwater of Center Point, Kenneth (Patti) Atwater of Manchester, Diane (Cliff) Bowers of Toddville, Marcia (Doug) Lawrence of Marion, and Linda (Jim) Simon of Center Point; 11 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren; one sister, Margie Volesky of Newhall; and one brother, Harold Zenisek of Fairfax. Also surviving is a special friend, Wayne Long of Delhi.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Inez was born December 13, 1924, the daughter of Ernest and Alice (Dvorsky) Zenisek, in Solon, Iowa. She married Harold Atwater on November 29, 1947 in Fairfax, Iowa. He died July 31, 1988. Inez was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker and the Alert Homemakers Club. She farmed with her husband in the Linn County Area for her entire married life. Inez was a lady who always put her family first. She dearly loved all of them and was the true definition of “Grandmother.” She especially enjoyed her many years farming and although challenging, she always found the rewards of their hard work. Inez touched many lives in many different ways and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
