Ila Marie Scanlon, 86, of Masonville, died Thursday, January 3, 2008 in her home following a sudden illness.

Ila was born July 19, 1921 at Sliver Creek, the daughter of Ross J. and Ora E. (Joslin) Scanlon.

She attended Silver Creek School in rural Delaware County.
Ila enjoyed gardening, Sudoku, crossword puzzles and reading. She has a special interest in organic gardening, recycling and respecting the earth. Ila was a wise woman who recognized the benefits of exercise, healthy eating and vitamins. She pumped her own water and lived her life in the same manner as in the 1950’s. Ila had a strong belief that God would care for her needs if she couldn’t. One of her last acts on this earth was to shovel her walks, pump her water and clean her home.

Ila is survived by her fourteen nieces and nephews, their spouses and children, and many cousins.

Ila was preceded in death by her parents, Ross & Ora Scanlon, three sisters, Iola Van Engelberg, Frances Shaw, and Berniece Thein.

The family request memorials be made to the Silver Creek Cemetery.
