Ida Agnes Pratt, 93, of Heritage Nursing Center, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 3, 2004, following a lingering illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 6, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Jay Jentink of Calvary Baptist Church, Pastor George Isaak and Dr. Michael Kempainen. Friends may call from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, November 5, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Parko Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include a son, David Arlen Pratt of Cedar Rapids; and two daughters, Joy Isaak of Shoal Lake, MB, Canada and Chrysann Kempainen of Garland, Texas.

Also surviving are her sons-in-law, George Isaak and Mike Kempainen; grandchildren, Tim (Terri) Pratt of Jacksonville, Florida, Steve (Amy) Pratt of Cedar Rapids and Elaine (Matt) Haber of Cedar Rapids, David (Brenda) Isaak of Elfrida, Arizona, Lynette (Joe) Kucher of Chetwynd, B.C., Merlin (Glenda) Isaak of Shoal Lake, MB, Crista McTavish of Strathclair, MB, Jennifer Isaak of Denver, Colorado, Amy (Darren) Jessen of Westlake, La., and Heather (Shane) Helsel of Frisco, Texas; great-grandchildren, Sean and Ryan Pratt, Jessica and Andrew Pratt, Clinton (Bethany), Arlen, Travis and Sharla Isaak, Dustin and Dallas Kucher, Cody and Heidi Isaak, Laura and Rachel McTavish, Hannah and Jack Jessen, Lauren Ummel, Claire and Caroline Helsel. Agnes is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Agnes was born July 16, 1911, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to John E. and Flora Horsley Groat. Her beloved siblings were Dick and Randal Groat.

Her elementary and junior high schooling was Edgewood I, northwest of Cedar Rapids, where she edited the Edgewood Echo newspaper. In 1929, Agnes graduated from Grant Vocational High School, where she edited the Grant Bi-Weekly and was a member of the National Honor Society, Aristotelians. She received journalism and writing diplomas from Wheaton Correspondence School as well as a Lauback certificate to teach the illiterate. She was a member of Witwer Senior Writing Class through Kirkwood Community College. For many years, Agnes was an active member of PTA in the Cedar Rapids schools.

She married David L. Pratt on October 22, 1932, in Waverly, Iowa. He predeceased her June 11, 2000. The couple enjoyed membership together for over 50 years at Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught primary Sunday school, served on the Deaconness Board and was active in missions. Agnes was a founding member of Edgewood Baptist Church, as well as helping her husband with services at Dairy Dale Baptist Church and serving many years at Sharon Evangelical Church, under leadership of Rev. Staufacker. Agnes? dedication to the Lord was evident also in the many hours of service with Frank Ward and the Sunshine Mission.
