Ida E. Funke, of Grayslake, Illinois, formerly of Manchester, Iowa, died Saturday, April 15, 2017. Visitation: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Bohnenkamp – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, with a 5:30 p.m. Scripture Service, and additional visitation one hour prior to Mass at the church on Thursday. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester. Burial: St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
Ida Elizabeth Funke was born January 14, 1920, in Luxemburg, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin and Clara (Brunsmann) Pasker. She received her education at St. John’s in Ryan, Iowa. On January 4, 1944, Ida was united in marriage to Ralph F. Funke in Ryan. The couple farmed near Ryan until 1973, then moving to Manchester. Ida was employed in the housekeeping department at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester for 12 years. In 2009, Ida moved to Grayslake, Illinois.
Ida was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Golden Age Center in Manchester and the Grayslake Senior Center in Grayslake. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, quilting, gardening, bird feeding and playing the organ.
Ida is survived by her four children, Joan (John) Vcelka of Grayslake, Illinois, John Funke of San Diego, California, Clara Hilsenbeck of Solon, Iowa and Patrick (Melinda) Funke of Villa Park, Illinois; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren; sister, Irene (Don) Salow; and sisters-in-law, Rosemary Pasker, Irene Pasker, Jeannette Pasker, Doris Funke, Lou Mae Funke.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ralph in 1994; six brothers, Joseph (Antoinette “Netti”) Pasker, John (Luella) Pasker, William Pasker, Albert Pasker, Leo Pasker Alphonse (Mae) Pasker; granddaughter, Janine Vcelka Kennedy; great-grandson Kennedy; daughter-in-law Amelita Funke; son-in-law John “Jack” Hilsenbeck; brothers and sisters-in-law, Irene (Edmund) Mensen, Helen (Paul) Vaske, Charlotte (Arnold) Mensen, Art Funke, Edward Funke, Esther (Alfred) Lechtenberg, and Margie (John) Reinert.
