Hubert O. Hatcher

Hubert O. Hatcher, 79, of 5607 Colorado Dr. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, November 4, 2004, at Mercy Dialysis Center, Cedar Rapids, following complications of a heart condition. Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Gary Dobbins. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife Maxine; his children, Kenton (Deborah) Hatcher of Marion, Michael (Regina) Hatcher and Denise Norton, both of Cedar Rapids; his stepchildren, Paul (Jeannette) Blinks, Debra (Lon) Hoke, Curtis (Laura) Blinks, Brian (Maretta) Blinks, all of Lisbon, and Doug (Chris) Blinks of Mt. Vernon; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Ditch of Cedar Falls; a special stepsister, Aldi Warren of Oklahoma; special friends, Ed & Kat Fults; and Molly, the dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Algena; a sister, Irene Hansen; and his aunt and uncle, Hattie and Roy.
Hubert was born February 14, 1925, the son of Oren and Zella Reicher Hatcher, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He married Algena Slick. She died in 1978. On May 26, 1979, Hubert married Maxine Achey Blinks in Mt. Vernon. For 25 years, he worked for Witwer Farms and worked at Rockwell Goss for 26 years, retiring in February, 1996. Hubert was a member of the Machinists Union Local 831.
He was a loving and caring father, stepfather and grandfather. Hubert loved all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, natural and step. He also loved animals, eagles, gardening and fishing. Hubert will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Hubert.
