Howard Duane Moyer, 73, of Alburnett, died Thursday, February 16, 2006, in his home with his family by his side after a long struggle with cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2006, at Alburnett United Methodist Church by the Rev. Burr Bryant and Rev. Jack Kendall. Burial: Blodgett Cemetery, rural Central City. Friends may call from 2 - 6 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City and from 9:30 a.m. to service time Monday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; his children, Bob Moyer of Troy Mills, Connie Moyer of Marion, Clif Moyer of Minneapolis, and Tim "Moby? (Dianne) Moyer of Troy Mills; six grandchildren, Michelle Fields, Becki Washington, Bonyta Moyer, Kristin Stakland, Elizabeth Kaiser and Brian Moyer; fourteen great-grandchildren; his siblings, Dorothy Silver of Central City, Ronald Moyer of Anamosa, Elsie LeClere of Belvidere, Illinois, and Rayferd Moyer of Central City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Franklin; and a sister, Florence Michels.
Howard was born the son of G. Frank Moyer and Elsie Moss Moyer on September 16, 1932, in Linn County. He was united in marriage to Donna Renfer on July 11, 1950, in Kirksville, Missouri. Howard was both a farmer and a carpenter, operating his own business known as Moyer Construction. He was a member of Alburnett United Methodist Church.
