Howard “Howie” Craig, 44, of Manchester died April 27, 2009 following an automobile accident south of Manchester.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester by Rev. John Flaherty. Family will greet friends 2:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa where there will be a 2:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Additional visitation - one hour before services on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Manchester.
Howie was born October 23, 1964 in Franklin, Indiana, the son of Homer and Carole (Holderfield) Craig. In 1983, he graduated from West Delaware Schools in Manchester. On May 11, 1996, Howie was united in marriage to Cindy Althoff at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester.
Howie worked at Don’s Standard, Hawkeye Casting in Manchester, and was a co-owner of Woodworks Construction Company. Howie enjoyed attending sporting events, especially being there to support his sons’ events. He volunteered as a coach for football, baseball and wrestling. He enjoyed skiing, bicycling, volleyball, golf and motorcycles. His family and friends were very important to him.
Howie is survived by his wife, Cindy Craig of Manchester; two sons, Dalton and Devon Craig at home; his mother, Carole Craig of Manchester; a brother, Tim (Lisa) Holderfield of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Hilda (Jesse) Bray of Indiana; his mother-in-law, Margie Althoff of Manchester; sisters-in-law, Lori (Tom) Trenkamp of Manchester, Lisa Althoff -Allyn of Cedar Rapids, Paula Althoff of Cedar Rapids, and a brother-in-law, Craig Althoff of Manchester.
Howie was preceded in death by his father, Homer Craig; grandparents, Clyde and Betty Holderfield; father-in-law, Clarence Althoff, and a brother-in-law, Ted Althoff.
