Henry Wagner, 90, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at the Annandale Care Center, Annandale, Minnesota. The family will greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at the Legacy Center at Murdoch–Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will begin at 5 p.m., following the visitation. Private burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include son, Dave (Cheryl); two grandsons, Jon (Natalie) and Mike (Teresa); seven great-grandchildren; sister, Martha; and stepdaughters, Cheryl and Vicki.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Edith McCright, Olive Fisher and Helen Sauer.
Henry was born July 11, 1925, the son of Henry and Ruth (Thompson) Wagner, in Troy Mills, Iowa. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943-1946. On May 27, 1947, Henry was united in marriage to Arlene Hill. She died in 1983. He married Onalee Hall on May 11, 1985. She died in 2000.
Henry was a carpenter by trade, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church, a long-time member of the Mt. Herman Masonic Lodge and El Kahir Shrine Temple, where he served as a captain of the Shriner’s Foot Patrol.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shining City Foundation in Urbandale, Iowa, (co-founded by his nephew, Brad Peyton) or Shriners Children’s Hospitals, in memory of Henry.
