Henry I. "Hammering Hank? Mason, 75, of 2726 Matthew Dr. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, December 17, 2006, in his home, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with military honors. Father Thomas McDermott will officiate. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include wife, Clauda; his children, Marvin (Ziggy) Ellard of Jacksonville, Florida, Barbara Gamble of Poulsbo, Washington, Michael (Sun) Mason of Chicago, Illinois, Karen (Patrick) McBride, Kevin (Erlinda) Mason, and Jonathan (Joann) Mason, all of Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his stepmother, Ollie Mason Robinson of Maynard, Arkansas; and a sister, Merle Huffman of Fostoria, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Belinda Mason; three sisters; and a brother.
Henry was born December 22, 1930, the son of Ranson and Christine (Lentz) Mason, in Randolph County, Arkansas. He served with the United States Army Air Corp and then the United States Air Force. On April 4, 1954, Henry was united in marriage to Clauda Henley in Missouri. For 24 years, he worked for Nash Finch as a truck driver. Henry was an avid Lionel train collector.
