Henry W. "Hank? Charipar, 88, of New Hope, Minnesota formerly Cedar Rapids, died November 29, 2004, at the St. Therese Home, New Hope, Minnesota. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 3, 2004, at St. Ludmila?s Catholic Church by Rev. Thomas McDermott. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to service at the church on Friday. Burial: Blaine Cemetery, Swisher, with military honors.

Henry is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Bess; his children, Gerald (Mary) of Rochester, New York, Jo Brown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Rev. Henry Charipar of Cresco, Iowa, Charlene Stellamaris of Clear Lake, Wisconsin and Karl (Connie) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his granddaughters, Christine Charipar and Sarah Charipar of Chicago, Illinois and Abigail Radintz of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin; his grandsons, Matthew (Angela) Radintz of Clear Lake, Wisconsin, Paul Charipar of Nashville, Tennesse and Daniel Charipar of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a great-grandson, Ian Radintz, of Clear Lake, Wisconsin; a brother, Al of Lake Dallas, Texas; a sister, Helen Reed of Cedar Rapids; a brother-in-law, Edward Machacek, Sr. of Marion; many generations of nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Anna; brothers, Leo and Charles; sisters, Alice Miller, Ann Rensch and Frances Miller.

"Hank? was born July 15, 1916, the son of Mathew J. and Anna (Langer) Charipar in Makoti, North Dakota. On March 30, 1940, he married Bess Bohac. He enlisted and proudly served with the Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked as a plumber for his brother, Charles, in Cedar Rapids for many years, and was a life-long member of the Plumber & Pipefitters Union. Hank moved to Swisher, Iowa, in 1965, retired in 1978 and spent winters in Yuma, Arizona. In 1999, Hank and Bess moved to St. Therese Residence in New Hope, Minnesota. Hank spent the last six months of his life in the St. Therese Nursing Home.
