Helen M. Jungiohann Woodard, 89, of 1728 Wilson Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 18, 2005, at St. Luke?s Hospital following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids by Rev. Blair Frank from Trinity United Methodist Church. Family will greet friends prior to the service. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Woodard; a son Larry and wife Robyn; four grandchildren, Rebecca (James) Higham, Jeff Woodard, Robert Woodard, and Dustin Woodard; one great-grandchild, Steven Higham; and two sisters, Mrs. Grace (Melvin) Price and Mrs. Edna (Leroy) Swiser, all of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years; her parents; four brothers and three sisters.
Helen was born August 3, 1915, in Davenport to Frank and Wilma Jungiohann. The family moved to Cedar Rapids in 1929, where she was a member of the last graduating class from Grant High School in 1934. She married her next door neighbor, Ed Woodard, in 1936. Her work experience after graduating began as a maid for a wealthy family and ended years later at McKesson-Robbins.
