Helen Isabelle (Bowersox) Whiting, 94, a resident of the Jefferson, Wisconsin, Alden Estates Health Care Center, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. with service to immediately follow on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Graveside Burial: Shueyville Cemetery, Shueyville, Iowa.
Helen was born on July 9, 1922 in Shueyville, Iowa, the daughter of James and Theo (Potter) Bowersox.
Helen was united in marriage to Robert E. Whiting on December 16, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, who he served with the Army Air Corp during World War II. She began working in the electronics manufacturing industry at Collins Radio, Cedar Rapids during the 1940’s and retired from Gould Inc., Racine, Wisconsin in 1991.
She was very fond of animals and a frequent donor to the SPCA.
Helen is survived by her three sons, Steve, Scott (Maureen), Tom (Linda); four grandchildren, Bryan (Michelle), Miranda, Nick (Tori), and Noah; one great grandchild; Teagan.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Theo (Potter) Bowersox; husband, Robert; two brothers, Howard, and Robert; six sisters, Lois, Grace, Irene, Lucille, Marian, and Margaret.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to your local SPCA, in Helen’s name.
