Helen W. Tritle, 86, a longtime resident of Marion, died at Crestview Acres Care Center in Marion, Wednesday, October 23, 2002, following an extended illness. Services: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2002, at Marion Christian Church in Marion by the Rev. Robert Kuntz. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion. The family will also greet friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service. Refreshments will be served.

Surviving are her children, Marilyn Maynard and husband Jerry of Iowa City and their children, Doreen (Doug) Jasper and Susan (Lee) Shoke; Frana Potter and husband Stephen of East Lansing, Michigan, and their children, Joan (Andy) Thomas, Thomas (Mimi) Potter and Daniel Potter; Linda Hoskins and husband Robert of Marion and their children, Laurie (Mike) Stramel, Robert Hoskins, Jr. (who is deceased) and Deborah (Bill) Walter; Marvel Van Note and husband Dean of Aurora and their children, Jason (Beth) Warren, Mark (Nichole) Warren, Janet (Steve) Gibbs, Janice (Troy) Carrillo, Jennifer Van Note and Jeremy Van Note; a brother, Keith (Gail) Keller of St. Charles, Minnesota, and their children, Julie (Randy) Gettner and Jon (Amy) Keller; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Charles, her parents and a sister, Marilyn.

Helen was born the daughter of Forrest and Florence Miller Keller on June 24, 1916, in Lorimor, Iowa. She grew up in Alburnett, Iowa. On August 13, 1934 in Geneva, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Charles A. Tritle. He died July 13, 2001. She was an active member of the Marion Christian Church for 55 years, a member of the Christian Women?s Fellowship, Marion Literary Club and King?s Daughters. Helen enjoyed reading and music. She took great pleasure in her family, home and her church family.
