Helen Mae Ridenour, 85, of Manchester died Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the Good Neighbor Home following a lengthy illness.

Funeral Services: 10:30 Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Manchester by Rev. Roger Henry. Visitation: 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour before services, Wednesday at the church. Burial in the Greenwood Cemetery, Masonville, IA.

Helen Ridenour was born November 3, 1924 in Fayette County, the daughter of Paul Leonard and Helena Augusta (Braun) Menuey. She received her education through the Hazelton schools, Dunkerton High School and Lamont High School, graduation in 1942. Helen worked at the Dyno “Dina-mite” restaurant in Manchester. She was united in married to Ronald A. Ridenour on September 10, 1943. They farmed by Colesburg, returning to his family farms in Hopkinton and the Masonville area. In 1948 they purchased their own farm in Coffins Grove. Ronald died in 1984.

Helen was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church, the Busy Bees and Crazy 8’s clubs. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, fishing, her flower gardens, and mushroom hunting.

Helen is survived by three children: Karen Osterhaus , Larry (Rose) Ridenour, and Jerry (Barb) Ridenour of Manchester; one sister Marlis (Archie) Miller of Independence; seven grandchildren, Kathy Osterhaus, Laura (Rich) Argo, Michael (Jill) Ridenour, Lisa (Dennis) Schindler, Adam (Niki) Ridenour, Larissa (Chris) Gallagher, Nathan Ridenour; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Ridenour; her parents; a granddaughter, Kendra Ridenour; a grandson, Daniel Osterhaus; a sister, Velma Benfante; three brothers, Kenneth Menuey, Robert Menuey, and Donald Menuey.
