Helen Oxley, 101, a lifelong resident of Marion, Iowa, passed away from complications of natural causes on September 17, 2007, at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids.
According to her wishes, graveside services will be held at the Oakshade Cemetery in Marion at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 24, 2007, by Ken Graham, Pastoral Assistant, Center Point United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.
Helen was born July 5, 1906, in rural Marion, the daughter of Clarence R. & Lizzie (Groll) Oxley. She graduated from Healds Business College in Mill Valley, California. She was employed many years in Marion by the Witwer Company at the Me Too store. Her outgoing personality brought her many friends of all ages. Helen loved horses and was fond of attending races.
Helen is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary E. Oxley of Center Point; a niece, Barbara (Dean) Harger and their son Matthew of Germantown, Maryland; two nephews, C. Robert (Polly) of Des Moines and their daughter Allison (Mark) Gister of Tarzana, California and Joel Oxley of Niceville, Florida; one cousin, Edwin (Barbara) Blinks of Dubuque.
Helen was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Oxley and Marshall Oxley.
