Helen Kresnicka

Helen Kresnicka, 97, a longtime resident of the Cedar Rapids area, passed away September 17, 2015, at Hallmar Residential Care. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 pm on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2015, at the funeral home as well.
Helen is survived by her children, David E. Kresnicka MD (Dottie) of Marion, and Julie Paulsen (Jack) of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren, Kenneth Shotswell (Gwen), Kimberly Mailes, Lisa Spector (Jonathan), and Michael Kresnicka; great-grandchildren, Bridgette Simpson, Alexis Shotswell, Aiden Shotswell, Katrina Shotswell, Thomas Mailes, Serena Mailes, Sophia Spector, and Leo Spector.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Blache Uldrech, Emily Stransky, and Ann Musil; and brother, Frank Sladek.
Helen was born July 7, 1918 in Chicago Illinois to Jan and Katerina (Span) Sladek. She married Edward James Kresnicka on April 13, 1940 in Cicero, Illinois. She worked as a dental assistant for twenty years.
