Helen M. Hugenel (Brim)

Helen M. Hugenel, 85, of Manor Care Health Services, died there peacefully in her sleep with her family by her side Saturday, August 19, 2006, from COPD. Services: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids by Chaplain Dave Soldner of Amenity Hospice. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, August 21, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Ness of Marion, Pat Achey of Cedar Rapids and Peggy (Rich) Becker of Shellsburg; a son, Ray Hugenel of Cedar Rapids; a son-in-law, Don McLaughlin of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents; a son, Larry in 1995; a daughter, Nancy McLaughlin in 2002; a son-in-law, Ron Ness; and seven siblings.
Helen was born May 28, 1921, in Brighton, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Winifred (Wright) Brim. On April 24, 1939, she was united in marriage to Joseph Hugenel in Iowa City. He died July 14, 1981. She worked in the sliced bacon department for 23 years at Wilson?s Packing House. Helen made KOP status in her TOPS group.She loved reading, crocheting, yatzee and dice games. She loved her family.
