Helen Marie Holub, 90, of Anamosa, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at the Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2014, at St Joseph Catholic Church, Prairieburg, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, with a scripture service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Burial: St Joseph Cemetery, Prairieburg Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Pat (Ken) Heskett, Jim Holub, Dave (Marcia) Holub, and Sue Holub; grandchildren, Paul Heskett, Tammi (Tom) Bervid, Amy Holub, and Angela Holub; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Heidi Bervid.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard Holub; brothers, Arthur, Richard, and Bill; sisters, Lucille and Lorraine; sister-in-law, Gladys Dauber; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Dauber.
Helen was born September 4, 1923, in Worthington, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Elizabeth (Siegel) McVay. She attended school in Worthington, Iowa, and later worked for Loras College and the Shirt Factory in Anamosa. On July 21, 1949, Helen and Leonard Holub were united in marriage at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg. They farmed for many years and when Leonard passed away in 1999, Helen moved to Anamosa.
