Helen Marie Glessner Holton, 90, a resident of the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, died there peacefully Thursday evening, October 14, 2004.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 18 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester by Rev. Kurt Pasko & Chaplain Jill Mack. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.

Helen was born the daughter of Charles and Reatha (McCalley) Morningstar on March 6, 1914 in Walker. She lived in Cedar Rapids for many years and graduated from old Washington High School. On March 6, 1932 Helen was united in marriage to Virgil R. Glessner in Cedar Rapids. Virgil died on May 8, 1959. She later married Reginald W. Holton in Burlington on April 12, 1968. The couple lived in Manchester for thirty years where they owned and operated the C & S Store and other clothing stores throughout Iowa. Reginald died December 12, 1984.

Helen was a member of the First Christian Church in Cedar Rapids prior to moving to Manchester where she was a member of the Community Congregational Church. She belonged to the Manchester Golf and Country Club, the U.C.T. and many professional organizations while in the retail business.

Helen is survived by four children, Edna Rathje and husband David of Marion, Chuck Glessner and wife Arloene of Guttenberg, Jack Glessner and wife Joni of Ridgedale, MO, and JoAnne Moore and husband Don of Downey, CA; a sister, Velma Tanner of Marshalltown; a brother, Dale Morningstar and wife Martha of Auburn, CA; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a son; step-son; two grandsons; two brothers and three sisters.

Memorials may be directed to the Community Congregational Church or Camp Courageous.
