Helen Anne (Wenger) Hischke, 73, of 3000 27th Ave. in Marion, died Saturday, November 29, 2008, in Cedar Rapids. Service of Celebration: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Mark Halvorson. The family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Private family inurnment will take place at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion prior to the service.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, Rev. Roland Hischke; four children, Kevin (Martha) Hischke of Northglenn, Colorado, Darrell (Karen) Hischke of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Brian (Nancy) Hischke of Burlington, Wisconsin, and Pamela (John) Krog of Central City; seven grandchildren, Jacob and Jessica, Zachary, Joshua, and Kevin, and Laura and Adam.
Also surviving are a sister, Carol (Gene) Miehlke of Orland Hills, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Karen Wenger of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; a brother-in-law, A.C. Alonzo of Kenedy, Texas; and twenty-seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gerald Wenger; and a sister, Bonnie Alonzo.
Helen was born June 9, 1935, the daughter of Roy and Ida (Karth) Wenger in Rudolph, Wisconsin. She attended Concordia in St. Paul, Minnesota, Concordia in River Forest, Illinois, and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where she earned her BA in Home Economics. On August 11, 1956, she married Roland Norman Hischke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kellner, Wisconsin.
