Helen Lucille Hale, 96, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home in Gladbrook, Iowa. Family will greet friends and family from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Faith Lutheran Church in Marion, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, at the church, conducted by Pastor John Albertson. The church requires all guests to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Helen was born on November 2, 1925, in rural Delaware County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Elsie (Becker) Heiserman. She was a 1943 graduate of Manchester High School in Manchester, Iowa. On April 21, 1946, Helen was united in marriage to Merle Cox in Manchester, Iowa. He preceded her in death. On February 15, 1964, Helen was united in marriage to Richard E. Hale in Marion, Iowa. She worked at Collins Radio, and later worked in housekeeping at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, Shea Convalescent Hospital in San Dimas, California, Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California. Helen was a member of Faith Lutheran Church since 1991 and a member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Helen is survived and lovingly remembered by her four children, Denise (Robert) Johnson of Omaha, Allen (Barbara) Cox of Anamosa, Iowa, Duane (Terri) Cox of Marion, and D. Scott (Judy) Hale of Tonopah, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Chris) Rasmussen of Kansas City, Missouri, Danielle (Dwayne) Lidster of Goodyear, Arizona, Steve (Kris) Johnson of Omaha, Luke (Jennifer) Johnson of Omaha, Kip (Jennifer) Cox of Marion, Andrew (Krista) Johnson of Omaha, and Matthew (Jill) Johnson of Omaha; 18 great-grandchildren and one more on the way; three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Elsie Heiserman; both husbands, Merle Cox and Richard Hale; brother and sister-in-law, Donald (Iva) Heiserman; and two granddaughters, Michelle Lynn and Heidi Lynne.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either Faith Lutheran Church, Cedar Valley Hospice, or to the family.
