Helen M. (Chada) Rank, 85, of ManorCare Health Services, Cedar Rapids, died Friday, February 22, 2008, at the care center following a short illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Quinn Chada and wife Lori Anne of Shellsburg. Also survived by her sons, Francis, Larry, and Rudy, and their wives; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; and her beloved dog, PeeWee.
Helen was born July 24, 1922, the daughter of Francis and Clara (Miller) Scott, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She married Joseph Chada and from this union they had four sons. They later divorced. After 30 years together, she married Francis Rank. Helen and Francis lived in the rural Shellsburg area for many years. While living there, she forged many lasting friendships. Those friendships were very important to her. A homemaker, Helen was a dedicated loving mother and friend, who also loved animals.
